Changing fertility trends

This repository contains data and code to reproduce Figure 1 from the paper:

Benonisdottir, S., Straub, V. J., Kong, A., & Mills, M. C. (2024). Genetics of female and male reproductive traits and their relationship with health, longevity and consequences for offspring. Nature Aging, 4(12), 1745-1759.

Read the paper: Nature Aging

Data Sources

  • Average Childbearing Age: Derived from publicly available demographic datasets.
  • Children Per Woman: UN data on fertility rates.

Usage

  1. Open the Jupyter notebook plot-fertility-trends.ipynb in the code/ directory.
  2. Run the notebook to reproduce Figure 1. Ensure the datasets in the data/ directory are correctly loaded.
