To run the development server:
# Install dependencies
npm install
# Start development server
npm run devTo build the site for production:
npm run buildThis will generate the site in the dist directory.
The site is automatically deployed to GitHub Pages when changes are pushed to the main branch. The deployment is handled by GitHub Actions using the workflow defined in .github/workflows/deploy.yml.
You can also preview the built site locally:
npm run previewThe website features an immersive 3D starfield background created using JavaScript and CSS. The starfield creates a spherical, rotating galaxy effect with the following features:
- 3D spherical distribution of 1000 stars using the golden ratio for even placement
- Smooth rotation animation with performance optimization
- Dynamic star sizes (1-4px) and varying opacity
- Occasional blue-tinted stars for visual interest
- Responsive design that adapts to viewport changes
- Billboarding effect to maintain star visibility during rotation
- Performance optimizations including:
- Chunked updates to stars (not all stars update every frame)
- Animation pausing when tab is not visible
- Pointer events disabled to ensure it doesn't interfere with page interactions
The starfield implementation is located in src/assets/js/main.js (initStarfield function) with supporting CSS in src/assets/css/main.css.
