i.e. something better than this:

\STEXexport{
  \newcommand\logbin[2][]{\logbase[#1]2{#2}}
  \def\logbinOp{\logbaseFN{2}}
}

A good user syntax could be something like

\symabbrv{logbin}[args=1]{\logbase2{#1}}

I think we need to specify the argument(s), but we should not need to take care of all the modifiers like ! or notation specifiers like [nobase].

Hmmm, but this proably does not work, because the body of the abbreviation could contain multiple symbols, e.g.

\symabbrv{logbern}[args=2]{\logbase{\bernoullinum{#1}}{#2}}

then we would not know which one would get the ! or the [nobase].
