Description
I'm interested in restoring the 5.16.2.1.1 vanilla firmware on my PaperWhite 11th after successfully installing LB and I'm looking for more details in what steps should I do. The case is, I've messed with some filesystem files regarding locales and registration data after jailbreak and now I'm stuck at the last 97% of the boot process. Whenever I sideload the vanilla .bin firmware to the mount partition it appears to have part of the filesystem restored but not everything because at boot I see LB message *** 5.16.xx : ( ***. Then, the next reboot I see the message *** JAILBREAK ***, as if it has restored LB by itself. I'm planning to do a factory reset uploading a file named DO_FACTORY_RESET but I wonder what steps should I do to prevent a hard brick at this point.
After sideloading the kernel, updating and letting run the first boot attempt, should I delete the jb and .demo directory at the root before uploading the factory reset file or will it break the filesystem even further (it seems to have most of its function working just halting at the final stage of booting)? If not what are the steps to ensure a cleaner environment to try factory reset through DO_FACTORY_RESET?
Thanks.
