Auto-detect repositories

Discovery might be a performance-issue when navigating deep hierarchies, as in when the user is navigating D:\dir1\dir2\dir3\\...\dir99\, especially over high-latency interfaces (like network-storage), but it would be neat if by default the system checked if the current directory and parent-directories have a .git directory (or equivalent)
