Description
Right now, the Show Virtual Keyboard toggle is only available under:
Settings → Remote Device Settings → Show Virtual Keyboard
This works, but it’s not very convenient during active use because all of the other keyboard-related tools live under Toolbox (Shortcut, Clipboard, etc.). Every time I want to show/hide the virtual keyboard while working with shortcuts or clipboard, I have to switch away from Toolbox into Settings and then back again.
Proposed change
Please add a Show Virtual Keyboard control to the Toolbox page as well, so that all keyboard-related tools are grouped together:
- Keep the existing Show Virtual Keyboard option under Settings → Remote Device Settings (no removal).
- Add the same toggle or keyboard icon to Toolbox, near:
- Clipboard
- Shortcut
Both controls should operate on the same underlying setting, so changing it in either place stays in sync.
Rationale
- Better workflow: When using shortcuts, clipboard, and other keyboard functions from Toolbox, it’s natural to also control the virtual keyboard from there. Right now, it requires extra tab/context switching.
- Consistent UX: Toolbox is already where users look for “things related to keyboard input” (shortcuts and clipboard). Having the virtual keyboard control there makes the layout and mental model more consistent.
- Frequent toggling: For some workflows (e.g., mixed mouse + occasional on-screen keyboard usage, or when on a touch device), the user may need to quickly show/hide the virtual keyboard multiple times in a session. Having it directly in Toolbox makes that much more efficient.
To be clear:
I’m not suggesting that the option be removed from Settings — only that the same Show Virtual Keyboard control also be exposed in the Toolbox UI to avoid unnecessary switching.
