[Feature Request] Hide or even drop the pin icon from the Status Bar

I find this icon unnecessary and would like to hide it to free up space on the bar. Not only is it hard to reach, but there's also a checkbox in the Status Bar settings dialog that allows you to hide or show the bar. Is the pin/unpin icon necessary?
