Message "Could not load some apps"

Hello!

Every time I open the app, the following message is displayed:

"Could not load some apps".

In my case, the app in question is "/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/applications/io.github.vmkspv.netsleuth.SearchProvider.desktop", but I never configured this app as an startup application (at least not intentionally).

I can collect any debug information you need, as long as you provide me the instructions.

same here, in my case it's /run/host/usr/share/applications/discord.desktop
$ cat /run/host/usr/share/applications/discord.desktop

Ah I see. So that notification you're seeing is because of the list of apps. Ignition is saying that it can't load a file for one of the apps installed on your system. It's not about any entry you have added to run.

I suspect the reason is that the file is a symlink to an entry that is stored somewhere outside the folders Ignition has access to in the sandbox environment.

Can you launch ignition from the terminal and show me any output?
flatpak run io.github.flattool.Ignition

If it is a symlink, are you able to find where the file points to, and tell me its path?

Yes, the file is a symlink:

file /run/host/etc/xdg/autostart/org.freedesktop.problems.applet.desktop
/run/host/etc/xdg/autostart/org.freedesktop.problems.applet.desktop: symbolic link to /usr/share/applications/org.freedesktop.problems.applet.desktop

Any idea how to prevent this behavior?

Same exact issue, with the problems applet desktop file, even after enabling full host system access.

Same behavior noticed in a new Fedora 42 install. The issue occurs with /etc/xdg/autostart/org.freedesktop.problems.applet.desktop which is a symlink to /usr/share/applications/org.freedesktop.problems.applet.desktop.

Alright sorry for the delay myself! Looking into this, its because the symlink directly points to /usr/share/... whereas from the Flatpak sandbox's perspective, the correct path is /run/host/usr/share/.... I'll look into fixing this discrepancy now after knowing the issue fully. Thanks all of you for finding this out and reporting it!

The same behavior is also happening for Lenspect:
