Alfen Eve Double Pro - Second Socket Not Starting Charge via EVCC (Modbus) #26326

My setup
Charger: Alfen Eve Double Pro Line
Meter: HomeWizard P1
Car: VW ID.4 Pro (87 kWh)
EVCC: Running inside Home Assistant (supervised, HAOS), hosted on a virtual machine on a Synology NAS
Overall, the setup works great. I’m able to limit the maximum power usage to 8 kW (happy Belgium with its not-so-happy capacity tariffs 😅), and I’m using EVCC plans to charge the car based on solar energy and schedules.
The issue
After getting past the learning curve, there is only one problem left:
I cannot get the second socket of the Alfen Eve Double Pro to start charging.
The charger is connected via Modbus TCP:
IP: 192.168.1.109
ID 1 → first socket
ID 2 → second socket
Both sockets validate correctly in EVCC and show status and energy usage. However, when EVCC tries to start charging on the second socket, charging never actually begins.
At that moment:
I receive a notification from the VW app saying that something went wrong.
In the EVCC logs, I see messages like “wake-up started”, but nothing progresses beyond that.
As far as I can tell, the configuration of both sockets is identical (I’ve checked this multiple times, although I might still be overlooking something).
Steps to reproduce
Set both sockets to start charging immediately
When the vehicle is connected to the first socket, evcc successfully wakes the car and charging starts immediately.
When the vehicle is connected to the second socket, evcc attempts to wake the car, but charging never starts. The VW app reports an issue with the charger and prompts the user to retry. Meanwhile, the evcc logs show the retry timer repeatedly attempting to wake the vehicle (see logs below).
