If you have tree root issues, I cannot recommend it enough that you get yourself a Millie tip
Millie a bit of drama queen as tips go ... nothing that dangerous, but annoying, if you are a tree root ... like an psychologically ABUSIVE person ... the fine spray of STEAM, just barely bigger than mist gets old fast if you are a tree root ... but it doesn't really do anything to pipes, unless your pipes were badly fucked beforehand ... boiling water barely gnaws at soft tree roots and SHOULD flow down a pipe.
In other words, yes Millie gives an abusive blast of steam, but she is nowhere close to the damage from a mechanical roto rooter.
You do have to use SUPER HOT water in the pressure washer to scald and THEN blast away the roots ... not much ... maybe 10 gal/time ... 15 timess a month ... 150 gal of water ... and you do'er when she's COLD so that you get the heat outa her and only pay for the water.
But the whole op requires WEEKS ... a few minutes each time, three or four times a week ... REPEATED use shows the tree who's boss ... you might not think you can train a tree, but AFTER YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN TEACH A TREE, the tree will learn ... it's your ability to get your thinking down to tree logic level that's the problem. When you start thinking like a tree ... you get to a point where can train a tree [and then you die].
Use HOT WATER CAPABLE hose connected to the drain line spigot on the base of your water heater ... which you really should open up every few months to get even tiny amounts of scale or particles of anything solid OUT OF the bottom your water heater ... BEFORE those particles accumulates to any mass ... so this little exercise is not only a blast AND opportunity to contemplate your theories of how or why tree roots grow into sewage ... it's a home maintenance TwoFer in the way this little exercise ALSO tend's to keep your water heater clean. It's like picking up a BONUS gift at Lowes ... but BETTER because you didnt pick up a shopping cart full of worthless shit just because you like pushing a shopping cart around.
The Millie tip design is genius ... but then it COPIES how more dangerous tips PULL the pressure washer hose down the line. Since Millie is blasting a finer stream Millie is more of a gentle tug ... rather than a PULL ... which means that you have to use the trigger on your power washer to cycle it .... ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ON-OFF ... maybe 25X per 60s ...
You pull out your hose . then let Millie drag the line down your sewer line until you run out of hose ... then you pull your hose back out and let Millie drag your hose down the line again ... and you leave the hose extended down the line until the next time you do this exercise.
You piss around with this exercise for 5-10 minutes EVERY FEW DAYS for a month or so ... you GOTTA leave your hose extended, because you might lose interest in pissing around with this for a few weeks, so it can, maybe should take all Winter ... you gotta go in during Spring, when everything is growing a couple times to keep the roots at bay.
As Spring approaches, I also recommend a bit of this Roebic FRK-1LB Foaming Root Killer ... it's not that deadly ... but it'll leave a bad taste in the tree rootes mouth ... to remind those tree roots who's boss ...
Of course, if wasnt already sorta implied, I also recommend never actually taking a shit in your plumbing ... large mammals like bears should shit in the woods or some place where they can grab an FJB bidet hose to blast the rookter good'n clean ... but people never listen to my advice about using an invigorating outdoor bidet hose ... maybe they think that an ice cold blast up their plumbing might put a little too much extra spring in their step.
