Microsoft .NET Framework issue

Hi BM98,
I have to admit firstly, that I haven't read all of the quickguide but my Hudbar won't open. This problen happened when I was trying to move the window so I don't know what I clicked that caused it.

I got the message;
'Unhandled exception has occurred in application. If you click Continue the app will ignore the error and attempt to continue.
Value of '-10.25' is not valid for emSize'. 'emSize' should be greater than 0 and less than or equal toSystem.Single.MaxValue.
Parameter name: emSize.'

I have tried everything I can think of, including removing the app and downloading it again but I can't get past this message.
I have tried windows repair and even after turning everything off overnight and re-downloading to no avail. I would love to try out the software, it looks superb, but unfortunately I can't, please help.

Can you locate the settings file in MyDocuments\MSFS_HudBarSave\settings

• it is: HudBarAppSettings.json and attach it here (may be zip it before)

From the error message it appears that it stored a decimal value for a font size with a comma and may not read back correctly.
Do you use a comma as decimal separator in Windows ??
So you may copy that settings file away, delete the original and retry to start the app.
If I can fix the settings file then at least you would not loose the settings done so far.
I did already some updates as this problem appeared in an other area as well.

Yes, in one app, I have to use the comma.
I will do as you suggest, find and copy the file, post it here and delete it from the computer. I am assuming that it is a windows file which would explain why deleting your app and re-installing wouldn't help.

Hello again,
This is the zipped settings file, hope it is the correct one. There are several other similar ones as you know. The app still displays the same message (I answwer 'Yes' to the question about wanting to start the facility database next time).

The settings file will carry on between updates of the App therefore replacing the App will not help
One has to delete or fix the Settings file.

Attached the one with fonts fixed (Section UserFonts: comma replaced with a decimal point)
I suggest to not use the Font Dialog until the problem is fixed in an update.
I also hope (don't know..) if you change anything in Configuration - if the problem will arrise again
Then we have to remove the User Fonts for the time beeing -
Just let me know if this problem appears again.

Hello,
I extracted the zip that you sent to the HudBarAppSettings but the problem still persists. I opened the file with Notepad but under the section UserFonts, I can see the fonts listed but (presumably) their sizes all use a comma separator. Am I doing something wrong?
I have to go out now so I will try any further help and reply tomorrow.

Seems the App writes the settings out again and will cause the same issue as before.
I will remove the UserFonts settings for now until the problem is fixed with the App update I reccommend to not use User Fonts for now.

Hello,
Just replaced the file and that has worked. Thank you so much for persisting with this, it is good to know that support means support.
So I will now read the full manual and stay away from anything to do with fonts!
Will I get an advice of the update or shall I just keep looking on Github?

OMG This thread was (is) a life saver! bm98 I messaged you earlier today on flightsim.to about this exact same issue. I followed your above guidance and mine also is fixed, I hate to admit that MSFS 2024 is almost unplayable for me if I dont have your hudbar running! Thank you so much! -El D

Hey thanks for the response, and sorry to find something you werent expecting, to be honest Im not even sure what I did that caused this issue to pop up. I remember I was messing with fonts / font sizes to get things to fit on my screen properly, did I select incompatible things? I want to make sure I dont go down this road again, as of right now Ive left everything alone so i dont recreate this issue. Thanks Again, Matt

It is perfectly OK to mess around.. that is how one finds issued nobody thought of..

BTW. I could recreate it by choosing a very small font and then when you select a -4 for the Bar it would go from small to negative.
Fixed it for the next release.
