it sounds related to permissions issue. If you're using windows and cygwin, check the permissions set on the gdb executable. Assuming that $CB_HOME points to your crossbridge root:

$ ls -all $CB_HOME/sdk/usr/bin/gdb
-rwxr-xr-x 1 mbolt Domain Users 4006514 Jun 24  2013 /cb/sdk/usr/bin/gdb

I would ensure that you are the file owner and/or part of the group. You can verify this using id:

$ id 
uid=17247(mbolt) gid=10513(Domain Users) groups=10513(Domain Users) [etc...]

Then ensure that the x permission exists on the executable. If not, add it:

chmod +x $CB_HOME/sdk/usr/bin/gdb

These may require root access if you're on OSX.
