sap.m.ObjectStatus - setIcon() or icon binding is not working anymore after app is loaded. - version 1.143.0

What is the issue and how can we reproduce it?

1. Open the sample https:// ...
2. Run the preview. Press on the 2 buttons and check if the Icon of ObjectStatus is changing or not.
3. Issue - ObjectStatus Icon does not change either using setIcon() or using model binding.

Which OpenUI5 version is your project targeting?

1.143.0 or 1.143.1

Is the issue device- or browser-specific?

Tested with Edge and Chrome desktop browsers.

Should be fixed by b7ac77d which you can already test when bootstrapping with src="https://sdk.openui5.org/nightly/resources/sap-ui-core.js". 1.144 is expected to be released around next month.

Thanks for the update. So does it mean even SAPUI5 will also release the same fix in the same version around the same time?

Yes, since OpenUI5 1.144 includes the above fix, SAPUI5 1.144 will also contain the same fix once released. According to SAPUI5 vs. OpenUI5:

Most importantly, the core containing all central functionality and the most commonly used control libraries is identical in both deliveries. (For example, sap.m, sap.ui.layout, sap.ui.unified.)

Thanks for clarifying. Actually, I found this issue in SAPUI5 when trying to fix a bug raised in a customer project. My only concern is if 1.144 going to take a month to release and till then we are stuck with this bug. We have ObjectStatus with icons being used across our customer projects. :/

As a workaround, you could destroy and re-create the affected sap.m.ObjectStatus instance or use a lower SAPUI5 version where the issue is not reproducible. Until then, you'd have to wait for the fix to be available. Since 1.143 is a monthly release, there are usually no further patches on it (Unless an issue is causing serious consequences for users normal business processes and there is no workaround).

Thank you for sharing your findings. As @boghyon mentioned, the fix is available in version 1.144 and cannot be downported to version 1.143. Version 1.144 is scheduled for release in the 5th week of January 2026. After it is released, you can upgrade to the new version.
