Description of the issue

Firstly, want to say a huge thank you and give my kudos to all of you who are building this project – I know this takes a lot of time, knowledge, hard work, and...nerves! Wishing all the best for all of you!

As for the game, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road experiences a progress autosave/save issue on macOS (issue doesn't appear on Windows - see "Additional Context" for more info), and is an issue which doesn't appear to be present in other games I tested. Every time you make progress in the actual game, once you return to the main screen or reboot the game, your progress gets reset to 0 as if you have decided to start a new game or save altogether.

I saw some others post about this issue here as well, but their descriptions and explanations were fairly inadequate/incomplete, so I did some testing on my side to provide as much info as possible. There's more information in the "Additional Context" section as well.

Reproduction steps

FIRST STEPS:

  1. Download & Run Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road (WITH UPDATE - it's ~ 30GB) on Ryujinx Canary 1.3.233 (doesn't boot on 1.3.3).
  2. Select/Confirm game language settings (these settings are saved - see "Additional Context" for more info).
  3. Choose a player avatar and team.
  4. Arrive on main game screen with the "Welcome to the world of Inazuma Eleven" popup appearing.

EITHER:

  1. Proceed to claim rewards from inbox or the daily calendar. The "Autosave"/Saving text should appear in a corner.
  2. Return to main screen after claiming the rewards.
  3. The "Welcome to the world of Inazuma Eleven" popup will appear again. Going back to the inbox or the daily calendar shows the rewards have not been claimed (even though you've just claimed them).

OR:

  1. Proceed into Story Mode. Get through the cutscenes.
  2. Make some Story progress (kick some soccer balls, talk to some NPC's).
  3. Attempt to save the game from the menu.
  4. Return back to the main screen (just below the "Save Progress" button) OR quit the game.
  5. The "Welcome to the world of Inazuma Eleven" popup will appear again. Going back to Story Mode will show "Start new game" as if you haven't saved anything.

Additional context?

Here's some additional information I gathered from my testing:

  1. This issue is present on macOS, but not Windows 11 (didn't test Linux).
  2. The game's save folder consists of 3 folders: SYSTEM, HEADERSAVE, and AUTOSAVE (this is required for proper saving).
  3. When running the game on Windows 11, the "Autosave" feature works. The rewards you claim stay claimed, the changes you make to your avatar stay, changing the position of NPC's in a team remain saved. Furthermore, story progress is saved as well.
  4. When opening the User Save directory on Windows 11, you can see 3 folders: SYSTEM, HEADERSAVE, and AUTOSAVE. However, running the game on macOS and opening the User Save directory, you can only see 2 folders: SYSTEM, HEADERSAVE. I thought that perhaps the AUTOSAVE folder is hidden, but that is also not the case. The AUTOSAVE folder doesn't appear to get created at all.
  5. When going back one folder layer (long number folder), you see 2 folders: 0 and 1, and two files: ExtraData0 and ExtraData1. If you check folder "1", then you'll notice that the folder structure differs similarly as per point NR.4 on the different OS's (i.e. if folder 0 has two folders, then folder 1 will also have two folders).
  6. If you manually make an AUTOSAVE folder on macOS (in folder 0) and transfer the data.bin from Window's AUTOSAVE folder, then the game will be able to read that data (i.e. if you claimed the rewards on Windows, but transfer the save to macOS, then the game will see that you claimed the rewards). However, further progress is, again, reset, but reset only until the progress you've made on Windows (before the transfer).
  7. As SYSTEM and HEADERSAVE folders exist, they save the language options, so upon rebooting the game, you don't get a prompt to select your language again (this is correct for both macOS and Windows).
  8. This AUTOSAVE issue isn't mimicked in other games (that I tested) which have autosave by default (like PLZA - which has both autosave and manual saving).
