I'm trying to launch forge 1.8.9 using java 25 with launchwrapper, and while the game doesn't crash, forge itself doesn't load at all. Am I doing something wrong?

What launcher? Does it apply to any java version above java 8? Does it work fine with java 8?

I'm using prism launcher, and it does work fine with java 8.

log with java 25

seems like it's trying to set the security manager, which fails, then the rest of the tweaker never runs
same with java 21, and on java 17 it fails later because it can't find pack200
so my assumption is that it breaks after java 15
