error about ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'famodel.anchors'

Hi
I am trying to use famodel, I installed the model following the guid, but when I try to run the examples, it shows "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'famodel.anchors' ".

Hi @smallduan,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I have made the necessary changes in setup.py so FAModel will work for a non-editable installation, with one additional step required for the time being. First, please clone the MoorPy repo (https://github.com/NREL/MoorPy.git) and check out the dev branch, then install MoorPy in your environment, as FAModel currently requires some changes that are only in the dev branch of MoorPy. After this, please try reinstalling FAModel (pip install . in the FAModel folder) and let me know if you have any other issues.

I delate the old environment and rebuild the environment following the steps:
1、conda env create -f famodel-env.yaml in the famodel folder
2、conda activate famodel-env

3、run pip install .

4、in the Moorpy folder git checkout dev pip install -e .


5、reinstall the famodel and then I run the example create_platform_from_ms.py :


6、duplicate_platform.py ：

7、example_anchors.py：

8、example_driver.py：

9、example_manual.py ：

10、platform_ms.py ：

I can't get the plot figure and meet error as shown above.

Thank you for the helpful screenshots. To fix this error, please also clone the RAFT repository (https://github.com/WISDEM/RAFT.git), check out the dev branch, and install it into your environment. There are a few changes to RAFT requiring FAModel to use the development branch of RAFT for the time being.

I have also updated the examples to show all plots, so you should be able to see outputs now. Please let us know if there's any other issues you encounter, and thanks for your patience!

I'm very sorry that I couldn't respond to your message promptly due to a business trip.

I am trying to install FAM but meet errors when create the conda virtual environment :

The conflict is caused by:
    The user requested pandas==1.5.3
    geopandas 0.13.2 depends on pandas>=1.1.0
    floris 4.1 depends on pandas~=2.0

To fix this you could try to:
1. loosen the range of package versions you've specified
2. remove package versions to allow pip attempt to solve the dependency conflict


Pip subprocess error:
ERROR: Cannot install -r D:\Document\workfile\program\FAM\FAModel\condaenv.aaepumjj.requirements.txt (line 12), -r D:\Document\workfile\program\FAM\FAModel\condaenv.aaepumjj.requirements.txt (line 27) and pandas==1.5.3 because these package versions have conflicting dependencies.
ERROR: ResolutionImpossible: for help visit https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/topics/dependency-resolution/#dealing-with-dependency-conflicts

• I delate the verson in famodel-env.yaml and rerun conda env create -f famodel-env.yaml
• I remove the moorpy pip uninstall moorpy
• install moorpy by download MoorPy and run pip install .[dev]
• download RAFT and run pip install .[dev] in the RAFT folder (I am not sure if this is right)
• run pip install . in the famodel folder
• then run the code in the example folder but it still meet error:

Hi @smallduan, thanks for your patience, FAModel is still under development so we are still working through some errors. I have updated the pandas version to 2.0 in the environment yaml.

For the second issue:
Testing on my end, I get the error you displayed if I use pip install .[dev] for RAFT and MoorPy, but I don't get the error if I use git checkout dev followed by pip install . in the RAFT folder and the MoorPy folder. I would try again with these two commands and see if that fixes the error.

The recommended install steps should now be:

1. Create environment conda env create -f famodel-env.yaml
2. Activate famodel environment conda activate famodel-env
3. Clone MoorPy git clone https://github.com/NREL/MoorPy.git (if it's already installed use git pull for latest version)
4. Navigate to MoorPy folder and checkout dev branch git checkout dev
5. Install MoorPy dev branch pip install .
6. Clone RAFT git clone https://github.com/WISDEM/RAFT.git (if it's already installed use git pull for latest version)
7. Navigate to RAFT folder and checkout dev branch git checkout dev
8. Install RAFT dev branch pip install .
9. Navigate to FAModel folder and install pip install .
